Brazil beat India 3-1

India was defeated but a history was written, by Nicolai Adam’s boys as they played their last game of the tournament yeasterday at Goa. 

This was the very first time when India hosted a South American nation, yesterday was the day, when Inida U-17 hosted Brazil U-17 in the BRICS U-17 Football Tournament at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa.

Indian boys showed their never-say-die character against the 5 time World Champions, Brazil. India gave all they had till the last min of the game.

Brazil took the lead in the 2’nd minute of the game, as Brenner Silva shot from the box. This got the hopes of the team to battle against the football giants of the world, but no minute they let themselves down and crowd the backing them up every second. In the 19th minute, Komal Thatal scored the equalizer with a curling shot putting the ball back to the Brazilian net. This goal got back the spirit and passion in the Indian colts. Proper pressure was set on, dropping back when needed and attacking at times. Indian defense held the line well to cut the Brazilian attackers through off-sides. But, in 30th minute, Marcos Santos’s strike gave Brazil the lead and game in the game.

A minute later, India were denied a penalty shout as Komal was brought down inside the Brazilian box. The Colts picked themselves up as the match progressed even after conceding an early goal and at the half-way point Brazil lead 2-1.

In the second half, Joysana Singh gave the Brazilians a scare as his shot from outside of the box came inches close to equalizing the proceeding for India.

In the 82’nd min, Vinicius Oliviera scored the 3rd and the last goal of the game to make Brazil’s lead double.

At full time, the score was India 1-3 Brazil.

This game gave the colts new and much needed experience which will help in next year’s FIFA Worl Cup.
