Today’s encounter between Atletico de Kolkata and Northeast United FC ended in a draw.
Atletico de Kolkata hosted Northeast United FC in the Hero Indian Super League season 3 today at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata. Both teams shared a point each scoring a goal each. Game kicked off with a goal by the visitors and ended with a goal by the hosts.
Northeast United FC took an early lead in the game in the 5th min through Velez. A pass by Henrique Sereno close to the box of the hosts was intercepted by Velez, who rounded Debjit Majumder before his calm and composed finish. Atletico de Kolkata kept attacking from the flanks. On the go, a build up from the flanks found Ralte in space and he was the first to take the first shot for the home side in 25th min. In 27th min, Helder Postiga’s shot went just wide of goal, which could have been the equalizer. Few minutes later, Lara was able to find Sereno at the near post from his free-kick. Sereno headed it on target but couldn’t find the back of the nets. Instead found landed in the safe hands of Subrata Paul.
The last action of the first half came at the visitor’s goal as Stephen Pearson found a loose ball inside their penalty box. His shot was on target but Subrata Paul was their for the highlanders’s rescue again. First half ended in favor of the highlanders.
Atletico had almost equalized through Lara’s corner in 52nd min which was going into the nets of the visitors. Robin Gurung cleared away the danger with a header. Northeast United FC had a chance of doubling their lead through Romaric’s shot. Instead of a goal, the shot ended up for a corner. Velez’s shot was also cleared off the line which came through the corner. On the other end, in 72nd min, Majumdar was again tested. Emiliano Alfaro attempted a header on the goal from a cross from the right flank. Majumdar was able to maintain the 0-1 trail and give ATK a chance to fight for. In the next minute, Alfaro had a golden chance to seal it for the highlanders. Satyasen’s shot on goal was deflected towards Alfaro who had the whole goal open in front of him, but headed the ball right into the hands of ATK’s goalkeeper.
Atletico de Kolkata finally equalized in 90th min. Lara’s free kick was headed towards the far post where Hume just had to give a finishing touch for the equalizer.
At full time the score was 1-1 with both the teams sharing a point each. Northeast able to themselves shift off from the bottom spot and Atletico still in the top four.
In tomorrow’s Hero ISL season 3, FC pune City will host Delhi Dynamos FC at Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
