Bengaluru FC’s back to back win get them on top of the table

Bengaluru FC hosted their state rivals and the new comers in the Hero I-League 2017 season at Sree Kanteerva Stadium in Bangalore.

The hosts were able to beat the visitors with a score line of 2-0 and gain three points to jump to the top of the table.  Goals from BFC’s new signing Robey and CK Vineet gave them the needed lead in the second half.

Bengaluru started with Indian attacking line and introducing Mandar Roa Desai on the left. Whereas Chennai City FC had the same line up as in the last match, with duo Charles and Marcus on the forward line.

BFC started off with pretty good with ball possession and dominating the game for the complete game. Playing mostly on the defense line for the starting 15 mins and concentrating on building up the game, hosts looked threatening on the visitors. Skipper Sunil and Daniel kept on attacking with their one-twos in box and testing Karanjit on the goal line. Karanjit was at his best on the goal line to save CFC most of the time. Hosts tested CCFC’s keeper on a regular time intervals.

Center back Juanan was the first one to make an attempt on the visitor’s goal for the hosts. Attacks kept on coming against CCFC. Next was a shot by Lyngdoh which went over the post in 16th min. In the 19th min, skipper headed the ball over the post which was one of the best chance. It took 20mins for the visitors to make their first impact on BFC’s goal, but the shot was safely collected by Amrinder. BFC’s best move came into the picture with Daniel and Sunil combing with each other. One-two passes by both the strikers rite outside the visitor’s box was almost converted into a goal. But it was Karanjit again for the visitor’s rescue. In the closing mins of the first half, CFC’s striker, Tank, took a shot, which seemed threatening for hosts, but was just off target. At half time score stayed 0-0.

Chennai City FC started the second half. This time a little calm and composed. But that did not work out against the defending champions. It was the skipper for the hosts who took first shot on the goal of the second half. A good lay-off by Daniel helped Sunil to make an attempt to score, But the shot did not trouble Karanjit much. Mandar Rao Desai and Daniel were substituted soon, bringing in the hosts new signing Roby and CK Vineet respectively who made a big impact on the score line. Roby got his debut goal in 77th min, when he took the advantage of a deflected ball near the visitors box. Three mins later, CK Vineet doubled the lead on Udanta’s cross from the left. Vineet had no chance to miss it, took the game away from Chennai’s hands.

At full-time score was 2-0 in favor of Bengaluru FC. Although Roby and Vineet turned out as super subs for Bengaluru FC, Karanjit was the hero of the match for his super saves.
