A dull match for spectators on either side as the it ended in a draw with the scoreline showing 0 – 0
DSK Shivajians took on Mohun Bagan in the Hero I-League campaign of 2017 at Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
15 seconds into Kick-off and the home side almost took the lead as the Korean attacker, Kim Song Yong received the ball at the edge of the box and shot the ball past the advancing keeper Debjit Majumder, but the ball skimmed past the far post and Kim’s third goal of the season had to wait longer.
The next attempt on goal was from the Shivajians again,as Kim headed the ball towards goal which was parried by the away keeper. The Mariner’s attack showed signs of life at the 34th minute when Jeje Lalpekhlua pulled off a shot on goal, only to get deflected at a last-ditch tackle from the defence.
The best opportunity of the match came at the 40th minute for the home side when Kim’s right footed shot on goal was deflected by the post and was collected by Quero who managed to miss the goal by a mile.
DSK’s Chhangte came on at the 46th minute and almost made an immediate impact on the game with a low drive from just inside the box, which saw Debjit palm it.
The ball found the back of the net for the home side from Quero’s corner but their celebrations were cut short as the referee disallowed the goal due to violations against The Mariners defence.
A well directed header from Kim found Chhangte at the centre of the box at just 8 yards out,but a mis-timed shot gave Debjit Majumder a comfortable save.
Mohun Bhagan too almost got a taste of goal at the 77th minute, as a belter from Subasish Bose from within the box saw the ball hit the far post and roll along the goal line only to be cleared away. Only 2 minutes later, Yusa Katsumi completed a cross from Duffy, which was palmed away by home keeper Anganba.
The whistle blew and both sides settled for a point each.
At full time the scoreline stayed 0-0.
