India U-17 recently played against Chile U-17 in the Four-National Tournament held in Mexico City, Mexico on August 06, 2017.
Indian side, despite of being a man down, came out with a draw. Chile scored the first goal of the match in the 40th min. Indian side played their as usual high pressing game to create problems on Chile. At half time score was 1-0.
Indian boys came back with a determined vision and pressed high enough to create a chance for the equalizer. In the 82nd min, Nongdamba Naorem’s strike the needed goal. Soon later, Aniket got the marching orders in the 84th min. The sending off of Aniketh did not affect the Blue Colts much. They continued their pressing game and manged to keep the scoreline 1-1 till the end of the game.
Post match conference saw Mr. Caputto, head coach of Chile U-17, praising the India U-17 team and its coach.
Caputto said, “India is a very competitive team. Its coach Luis Norton de Matos has given the team an interesting model of play, with players that are fast and technically sound. It was a very difficult match, the way India approached the match was very interesting”.
“We started 1-0, we had some chances, but India came out and started putting pressure on us with very fast transitions and in a counterattack they scored”
“It was deserving, India is a team that will compete and will make their country proud, you can tell there is a lot of work from Luis and what he has achieved with the players”, Caputto concluded.
