Niger U17 claim victory on their competition debut

Niger beat Korea DPR in its first ever FIFA U17 World Cup game.

Korea DPR played against Niger in the second day of the FIFA U17 World Cup 2017 India on 7 Oct 2017 at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi. Korea DPR lost the game with 0-1 score line.

Niger created history in its debut appearance in the U17 FIFA world cup by registering its first win with difference of just 1 goal. Salim Abdourahmane was the hero of the match scoring that only goal.

Korea dominated the first half with more ball position and creating opportunities. No actions as such were seen by either side in the starting hour. But it was Korea’s captain Yun Min who came close to scoring, but his long ranger hit the Nigerean crossbar and sailed away. Till the half time scores stayed nil nil.

After the break, Nigerien side looked dominating and creating more chances than Koreans. Niger boys kept their attacking index going as a unit. Nigerien attacking game gave them a chance to get the lead and win the game. The attack came from the right wing of the Niger side. A good run on the flank by Habibou Sofiane allowed himself to cross in perfect cross in the Korean box to find unmarked  Abdourahmane who slotted in his first goal easily and give the needed lead to his side.  Abdourahmane kept the momentum going with the attacks, but couldn’t really cause any danger on the Korean goal.

Few mins later Abdourahmane again tried his luck on goal, forcing Sin Tae-Song, korean goalkeeper, to make the save for his side and keep the scoreline 1-0.

Till the final whistle scores stayed 1-0 in favor of Niger, which was enough for the Nigerien boys to create history.

Niger face Spain in their next game and Korea face Brazil in their group games.
