Delhi Dynamos FC hosted Jamshedpur FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi today (6/12/2017) in the Hero Indian Super League Season 4.
Delhi Dynamos kicked off the first half and both teams conceded a free-kick each in the opening minute. First attack came in by the visitors at the end of 2nd minute from the left. But Jamshedpur couldn’t make a good out of it. On the other end, Jamshedpur conceded another free-kick which was taken by Dias. Dias managed to send the ball through the wall but couldn’t reach the nets as Subrata came in for his first comfortable save of the evening.
Both the teams were looking good on ball with making attempts on each other’s goal. In the 12th minute a Delhi got an opening with a free-kick which was cleanly headed in for a goal. But the denied as Kalu Uche was off side before the ball was delivered to him.
In the 20th minute, Jamshedpur FC got a break through with Azuka with a shot. But shot on a turn was off target, sliding off the post.
Both the teams missed a chance each by 25 minutes. Delhi seemed to be creating more chances with ball possession. Whereas Jamshedpur attacked on a counter.
In the 30th minute, visitors had a good chance to take the lead with the attack built up from far right. But Delhi’s defense managed to get rid of the danger eventually. 34th minutes on the clock, both the teams were still looking for the opener.
The first half ended with a nil nil score line.
Visitors kicked off the second half with a attacking attitude. Jamshedpur FC couldn’t change anything immediately into the game. But, they were able to win a penalty in the 58th minute. Azuka was brought down in Delhi’s box by Pratik and referee immediately pointed the spot. Bikey was the man who stepped on to take the spot kick. But unfortunately he missed the convert the chance into a goal as he kicked the ball straight to Gomes.
Jamshedpur FC quickly came back into the game by scoring the opener. In the 60th minute, visitors won a freekick which was nicely headed into the back of nets by Azuka and giving his side the first goal of the season. Again in the 64th minute, Jamshedpur’s counter attack lead by Goncalves threatened the hosts. Goncalves on his own broke through to take the shot. His shot was off target to give a sigh of relief for the Delhi side.
Delhi there on tried hard to get the equalizer. In the process, home side maintained a good ball possession to build up the game and score one. But Subrata and army were strong enough to cut off all the chances.
After the 90 minutes of regulation time, seven minutes were added as injury time. But those seven were also not enough for the Delhi lions to get the equalizer. But Jamshedpur almost doubled their lead in the 90+4th minute when Doutie managed to grab the ball on the counter and lead the way. A two on one situation against the Delhi goalkeeper seemed like the second goal for the visitors. But Doutie couldn’t make use of this golden chance. His slow run did not match the pace of Grabriel’s fall back run who came back and saved it for his side.
In the 90+6th minute, Delhi managed to get a last chance to equalize. David’s good skills on the ball to beat the defender was enough to do so and take a shot on goal. But the shot was well saved by Subrata Paul to keep the scoreline 0-1 and get his team the first win of the season.
