Jerry and Ashim provide Jamshedpur FC their first home win

Jamshedpur FC played against Kerala Blasters in the Hero Indian Super League 2018 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jmashedpur today (17/1/2018) 

Seconds into the game, Jamshedpur got the first break through when Jerry got the chance to put the ball into the goal. This was the fastest goal in the Hero ISL history so far. Home team did not settle after a spectacular start and kept the attacking index on. On the other end, Kerala had their chances too, but couldn’t find the break through.

In the 16th minute, an awful miss pass by West in the midfield gave the home side another chance. A give an go between Belfort and Jairu was tackled well by Kerala defense to stop the run. In the 20th minute, Hume had almost equalized with a good header from the corner. But the header was well saved by Subrata to deny the best chance for the visitors.

Jamshedpur FC were in full form as they pulled out the second goal of the evening. Jerry missed the ball inside Kerala’s box, crossed in by Jairu, which was missed by Jhighan also. But the veteran, Ashim did miss the target and scored his first in the Hero ISL season 4. Paul had no chance even to make an attempt to save the strike.

Visitors played all out to seek a late first half goal. But they couldn’t break the home team defense. The first half ended with 2-0 score line favoring the home team.

In the second half, visitors had a good ball possession, trying to build the chance. Whereas, the home team attacked on the counter after the give aways by Kerala. 70 minutes on the clock and game became intense as the game saw couple of rough tackles and strong tussles.

Home side did not look like to settle with a two goal cushion, and kept the attacking going looking for the third. They kept on the pressure on the Kerala back line till the final minute.

In the 81st minute, Jerry got in a good cross to find Azuka inside the box. Azuka managed to head the ball well, but sending it in the hands of Paul for an easy save. Two minutes later, Azuka had another chance as he made another good run inside Kerala’s box, but couldn’t strike on target. Jhinghan was on spot to block his shot and get the possession back. It was all Jamshedpur there after, who kept a good possession and just tried to kill the time, also creating few chances. But they failed to convert the created chances.

Six extra minutes were added at the end of the regular 90 minutes, which did help the visitors. Substitute, Sifneos managed to head the ball into the goal to pull one back, in the 94th minute. Sandesh got in a good cross in from the right flank. Jamshedpur FC hawever managed to win the game for the first time at home.
