Mumbai City FC hosted Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League season 4 at Mumbai Football Arena in Mumbai today(18/1/2018)
Visitors kicked off the first half with showing no hurry for the goal. BFC soon had their visiting fans appreciating them with couple of good attacks being built up. Best chance came to Mumbai as Emana carried the ball forward getting the BFC defense line on the edge. But at the end, Balwant Singh sailed away the ball attempting in a cross.
In the 14th minute, Emana made a good pass to Balwant inside BFC box which was dangerous. But a strong defending of BFC managed to push away the threat. In the 18th minute, Miku got in a good cross which was dealt by Amrinder. In the 24th minute, BFC had the best chance denied by Amrinder when Udanta’s lay off to Sunil was shot first time on goal.
In the 34th minute, Gurpreet made a good save when Balwant tried a diving header to direct the ball into the goal. Visitors were awarded a penalty when Sunil was brought down inside Mumbai’s box by Balwant. Sunil stepped on to take the spot kick in the 43rd minute, and smashed the ball into the roof of the nets giving his side the lead. Soon again in the 45th minute, Udanta manages to snatch the ball from Emana and make a run into the space for a shot. Udanta’s shot however was off target, but was threatening for the home side.
At half time, scores were, Mumbai City FC 0-1 Bengaluru FC.
Home team got the second half underway and got a chance in the 47th minute after a miss pass by BFC in the midfield and Emana attacking the ball and trying for a pass. But his pass had no real direction and resulted in the clearance by Rahul. Two minutes after, Miku had a golden opportunity to double the lead for his side. After a good series of passes, Miku came up on the ball on run and tried to curl the ball to the far post. But his shot was again off target. Visitors did not had to wait for a long time to get the second goal. Udanta’s good run on the far right was read by Sunil who made a run to the penalty spot to strike the ball assisted by Udanta first time into the goal.
Miku soon made it 0-3 with a clever free-kick from the edge of the box. Visitors won a free-kick in the 61st minute and Miku shot the free-kick into the left bottom of Mumbai’s goal. BFC had almost made it 0-4 from a corner in the 66th minute. Miku shot tried a first time shot on target which was cleared away very well from the goal line. BFC looked very comfortable on the ball with passing the ball around to kill the time and also create few chances for another goal.
In the 75th minute, Leo Costa managed to put the ball through the legs of Gurpreet before he could put the ball into the nets. Balwant Singh’s first time pass to Leo inside the box was well touched down to get that goal. BFC dominated the game with good ball possession.
Four more minutes were added at the end of the regular 90 minutes. Mumbai struggled to get the needed finishing touch at the end of the chances created.
