Delhi and Chennai share a point each

Delhi Dynamos FC hosting Chennaiyin FC was the second match on a super Sunday in the Hero Indian Super League season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi today (11/2/2018)

Delhi came in with a hope of getting win for a change and Chennai looked to climb up the table with a win. Chhangtae was seen in action early in the game with creating a chance for Dias inside the box with a scross. But Dias somehow couldn’t keep his shot on target.

Chennai had a good ball possession in the opening 12 minutes trying to build up the play. In the 16th minute, Lugun almost scored an own goal in an attempt of heading the ball back to his goalkeeper in the process of defending. Xabier however got a touch on the ball to push away the danger and concede a corner.

40 minutes on the clock, no real action were seen in the match as an end to end game was witnessed by the fans. In the 45th minute, Nelson had the best chance of the half. But his shot from inside the box went over the post leaving the score board unchanged at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.

Right at the start of the second half Rapheal managed to initiate a shot on goal after Jeje’s pass was blocked and the rebound came to Rapheal whose shot went over the cross bar. In the 54th minute, Jerry got in a lovely pass to Gavilon inside Delhi’s box. Gavilon managed to tap the ball towards the goal, but Xabier made a very good save stopping the tap in with his out stretched legs and concede a corner.

Delhi in the 58th minute were awarded a penalty after Rapheal brought down Mirabarje inside his own box. Kalu Uchhe stepped on to take the spot kick next minute and was successful to beat Karanjith by sending him the wrong side. In the 78th minute, Rapheal found Rene inside the box who brought the ball well and executed the shot. But the shot was poorly taken which gave Xabier a chance to collect the ball at the end.

Finally in the 81st minute, Mailson managed to get a touch on the ball with his head to direct the ball from a freekick taken by the substitute Rene and score the equalizer. Both the teams however managed to hold the score line to 1-1 as they share a point each.

At full time, scores were, Delhi Dynamos FC 1-1 Chennaiyin FC.
