Chennaiyin FC hosted Jamshedpur FC in the Hero Indian Super League season 4 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Sunday (18-02-2018)
The match was even paced to begin with, as both the teams were content to play the ball in the midfield. Raphael Augusto took the first shot from outside the box in the 16th minute, but the shot wasn’t on target and the ball flew to the stands. In the 26th minute, it seemed like Jamshedpur could score as Jerry played a beautiful ball from the right flank. But the heading chance was missed by Farukh inside the box.
Finally in the 32nd minute, Visitors got the lead. Priori scored a sublime volley to put the ball into the bottom corner of the goal after an not so perfect clearance by Calderon created the chance for Priori just outside the box. This was the 200th goal of the season.
At the end of the first half, Jamshedpur had a lead of one goal.
The Chennaiyin did not want to lose at their home ground and had an offensive approach to the game in the second half. In the 56th minute, Jamie Gavilan took a free kick which went straight to Mailson Alves, and the defender tried to flick the ball inside the goal from the back of his head, but the ball went over the bar.
It was in the 71st minute, when home side scored the equailizer as both their substitutes played in action. Mihelic took a corner and then Rafis header nested the ball in the top corner. Subrata paul did not stand a chance at stopping this one
Priori took a shot from the outside the box two minutes past the injury time, but the Chennai keeper got down quickly to push the ball away for a corner.
This was a last action of the game and the scores were tied not affecting the positions of both the teams in the points table.
