Delhi Dynamos FC hosted ATK in the Hero Indian Super League season 4 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi yesterday (24-02-2018).
It was all midfield game as both the teams began the match with slow pace at the start. Both the teams failed to get the finishing touch in the final third on either side.
It was in the 22nd second, when the Lions took the lead with Seityesen getting in a cross from the right. The cross was initially blocked by Anwar which apparently gave a chance for Uche to pounce on the game and guided the ball into the nets.
ATK, there after started attacking creating problems for the home side. Visitors finally scored the equalizer in the 30th minute with Hitesh Sharma creating a chance for Mbatha to get his debut goal. Histesh made a good run into the Delhi’s box with the ball and managed to pass it to Mbatha, who took a shot from a tight angle. His shot was deflected into the goal by Delhi defense.
The last chance of the half came for the visitors, which was wasted to leave the score line 1-1 at the half time. Mbatha, in the 42nd minute, managed to pass the ball to Keane after a great run. Keane however did execute a shot which wide off target.
ATK came all out in the second half to get the winner. In the 52nd minute, Keane put his side in front from the first time in the game with a beautiful free kick which gave Iruetaguena had no chance to stop and entered the top corner. Keane almost doubled the lead for his side couple of minutes later, with a trying to lob the ball over Delhi’s keeper from distance. Cross bar saved the day for the Lions, as the Keane’s lob hit the cross bar.
Keane however managed to get his second in the 58th minute after Mbatha’s fabulous run with the ball from the midfield all the way into Delhi’s box was blocked eventually by Iruetaguena. But he couldn’t grab the ball which eventually came to Keane was just had to place it into the empty nets, which he did.
It took ten minutes for a response from the home side, and to score their second. In the 69th minute, Seityasen again got a cross from the right flank to find Uche inside ATK’s box. Uche clinically tapped in the cross to get his team some hopes.
The creator of the second goal for the home team turned out to score the equalizing goal. In form Chhangtae got in a cross from the left flank and Seityasen managed to time his run to perfection for a tap in. In the final five minutes, Pritam had a chance to score the winner after Uche back healed a pass to him, but Pritam’s shot went over the goal post.
Delhi finally got the winning goal in the injury time and it was Mirabaje to get it. Arana, after a good run with the ball, made a pass to Uche inside ATK’s box, who then layed it off to Mirabaje for a perfect placement into the goal.
